Gimme' One Reason - produced in 2009 - written by: Tracy Chapman B.J. Scahill - recorded at Son Songs Studios - Las Vegas, NV. by T-Bone Demman. Mixed at UNLV Studios by Chuck Foley
B.J. chose this pop /blues classic to re-invent in his own style. We wanted a fresh take, moving beyond the original recording into new stylistic territory.
The rhythm section did a great job with my altered chord structures. Idalberto Perdomo - drums, Ron Crews - Percussion, Walter Jones - Bass, James Davis - Guitar, and Sal Garcia on tenor sax.
Bring Him Home - produced in 2009 - written by: Schonberg / Kretzmer B.J. Scahill - recorded at Son Songs Studios - Las Vegas, NV by T-Bone Demman. Mixed at UNLV Studios by Chuck Foley
This recording reflects B.J.'s theatrical artistry. When he sings a song of this genre, he literally "acts" the performance. The challenge was to capture this imagery in an audio only recording.
We recorded multiple takes all the way through until B.J. felt we captured his "Stage Vibe" - Just piano and vocal- stripped down.
Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me - produced in 2009 - written by Harry Noble Jr. B.J. Scahill - recorded at Son Songs Studios - Las Vegas, NV by T-Bone Demman. Mixed at UNLV studios by Chuck Foley
We previewed a lot of material from the 60's before starting B.J.'s sessions. He picked this tune right away. He really knows how to sell a song and make it his own. a rare quality in a young artist.  -  featuring James Davis - Guitar, Walter Jones - Bass, Idalberto Perdomo - Drums. and Ron Crews on Percussion I played all keys and strings etc.
I suggested this song for B.J. because he has the  performance skills to make this lyric come alive. No video needed to convey the feeling we captured on this recording. Nice bckg. voc. performance by Richel Kompst, Ron Crews & Karen Jones. Once again a great sax solo by Sal Garcia
My Funny Valentine - produced in 2009 - written by: Rodgers / Hart B.J. Scahill - recorded at Son Songs Studios - Las Vegas, NV. by T-Bone Demman. Mixed at UNLV Studios by Chuck Foley.
Record a new take on this "covered to death" classic from the great American songbook.
"Rodgers & Hart meet Steely Dan and The Ohio Players". Saxes by Jim Spoto and Roger Hall. a great solo by Sal Garcia and solid rhythm by Idalberto Perdomo - Drums, Walter Jones - Bass,  James Davis - Guitar  and Ron Crews - Percussion.
Stormy - produced in 2009 - written by: B.Buie & J.R.Cobb B.J. Scahill - recorded at Son Songs Studios - Las Vegas, NV. by T-Bone Demman. Mixed at UNLV Studios by Chuck Foley.
"Dennis Yost & The Classics 4"  gem from the 60's re -imagined by B.J for a new generation Our goal was to tastefully break new ground while still paying homage to the original recording.
Ron Crews on Percussion and Idalberto Perdomo on Drums really lit up the feel of this recording. a great solo by Sal Garcia on tenor sax!
